Grass silage, 2nd cut, after 23 days of ensiling - BONSILAGE BASIC range for measurably higher feed quality

he highly favourable weather conditions with adequate warmth and rain ensured that grass regrew quickly after the 1st cut. The 2nd cut of the grass crop, which consists mainly of GREENSTAR Struktur, could be brought in after only 23 days. The yield was 12 tons of fresh matter per hectare.

Results of fresh grass sample analysis:

• 23-24% crude fibre
•   >20% crude protein
•   <10% sugar

Given these results, plus the very tight time window based on weather forecasts, it was to be expected that the 24-hour silage would be rather difficult to ensile. Accordingly, BONSILAGE FORTE was used at the beginning of the chopping process, and BONSILAGE PLUS was applied once the 30% DM threshold had been exceeded.

This once again creates a solid foundation for a first-class base feed for the dairy cow herd.
