LKV 2025 Report: Gut Hülsenberg once again among the national leaders

Strong results in a national comparison

The latest ranking of Holstein farms by lifetime milk yield (LTL), published by the German Cattle and Pig Association, places Gut Hülsenberg at the top of the list for the fifth consecutive year.
In the 2025 LKV year, Gut Hülsenberg recorded 34 cows culled with an average cull yield of just under 68,000 kg of milk. The lifetime milk yield stood at 25.8 kg. This places the farm in second place on the national list in the category of farms with 200 to 500 cows.
Compared to the previous year, the lifetime daily yield has increased once again (2024: 25.0 kg). The current evaluation thus confirms the farm’s consistent performance at a high level.

Classification of the results

In a nationwide comparison, Gut Hülsenberg is once again among the best dairy farms. Across all herd sizes of 100 cows or more, only two farms achieve a higher lifetime daily yield.
Furthermore, Gut Hülsenberg belongs to a small group of farms in Germany that have consistently ranked in the top list over several years. This consistency underscores the farm’s sustainable performance.
A particular feature of lifetime milk yield is that it is recalculated annually and every cow that leaves the herd is included in the assessment. The results therefore do not reflect individual peak performances, but rather the long-term development of the entire herd.

Consistency through coordinated management

The results are a reflection of a consistently implemented management approach. Central to this is the interplay between feeding, animal care and farm organisation.
Key factors include:
  • feeding tailored to performance and continuously optimised, with a full focus on excellent forage quality
  • structured and targeted rearing
  • intensive animal observation to enable an early response to changes
  • clearly defined procedures in herd management
  • This coordinated approach enables both high milk yield and a stable productive lifespan for the animals.

Practical relevance of the results

The current key figures show that high individual yields and a long productive life are not mutually exclusive. Rather, lifetime yield results from the interplay of numerous factors in day-to-day farm operations.
The results from Gut Hülsenberg thus provide practical guidance for sustainable and economically oriented dairy cattle management under real-world conditions.
